No, they are not related to pugs, Boston Terriers or pot bellied pigs, though they may be mistaken for them in dim light. French Bulldogs are a distinct breed, thought to have been bred by crossing English and Spanish bulldogs and breeding for certain characteristics. Frankly, some of those characteristics are not good like very flat faces with little or no snout or muzzle. This leads to breathing problems and a very annoying snorting quality. But, ya gotta love these muggly critters. They are very friendly, lively, sleepy, ornery, concerned and loyally will go with anyone who shows them affection. They are 25 to 30 pounds of love and stink. |

Here is Batly, 11 years old, in his favorite place, a nice warm sunspot. (Batly passed away on Halloween of 2005. Good choice of date, Bat Bug! So many miss you because you were so very good to know!) |
This is Boris, 10 years old, acting sweet. Sometimes it is just an act. |
